bird drawing from reddit user starryswim. On a dark background, a drawing of a bird from some kind of digital paint program. It has a sort of finger-paint but crayon look to it. The bird is standing, mostly blue except for white throat, belly, legs, and a grey bar down its wings and across its head to it beak. Its beak is black and there's a white line over its eye. The eye and the beak are uncoloured, letting the black background show through, though the beak is picked out in a fine white line. There's a splash of blue at the tip of the beaak. The feet are also picked out in that fine white line, and the legs are perfectly straight. Users identified it as a scrub jay.

one of my favourite paintings in the tate modern is portrait of a doctor by Francis Picabia, and i almost entirely like it for the description which makes it seem like it was a rejected portrait of a doctor that the dada-ist later drew floating cocks over to get it out of his studio

some cinema programmer in cheltenham had fun over halloween

The top-voted reply is from reddit user TeaRake asking "What happened?". OP responded "So the screening was advertised as a "classic" film (pick out iconic 80s slasher etc). Film in question was The Terrifier 3 [title italicised], a film with enough gore to sink the Titanic. All signs reading the socials point to a bunch of people weren't happy with this."

"very small and round bird"
drawing by reddit user hmworm, seemingly sketched on paper with crayons and then photographed, the left and bottom sides of the photo show a light-coloured text. Two drawings of a sphericall bird, both looking to the right. Hemi-spherical, I guess, as its belly is round but back is pretty flat. A small-ish wing juts out the back, and the skull is a bit proud of the rest of the body. The body is shaded grey, a yellow splash crown the bird, and there's a suggestion of brown on the wing. Two knots of black lines mark the feet. I would say it's a simplistic drawing, but functional, as the bird was identified as a Golden-crowned Kinglet in short order.

a sketch of a bird by reddit user broken_lampshade. a profile of a beige/grey bird, drawn by a phone app giving it a finger-paint quality. The unshaded color over-spills the outlines, the black-dot of the eye gives it a doofy aspect. the legs are rather fluid right angles that have a caligraphic quality. The comments concluded it was probably a grey wagtail, more from the description of its behaviour than from the sketch. a sketch by reddit user current corn. It's an extremely accomplished drawing of a great crested grebe, immediately recognizable, and finely observed (the two-tone body, the crest with their shading from white to red to black, the dappling of its wings). They even drew in the water with sun reflecting off it. The neck's a bit thick for a grebe, otherwise call up Audebon and tell him to get a new job.

Took this guy to the vets, they said they wanted to do some blood tests, after 15 minutes the vet came out and prescribed some tranqulizers and an appointment for another day because this tubby fucker was not playing ball. She called him strong twice. He's like the Kingpin, all muscle under there.

She's standing her left foot on the top turnbuckle, her right foot presumably on the second-rope. She's pointing to the left, her arm up and extrended straight, her smiling face turned to follow it. her right arm is resting against her hip. I lied, and she's not standing on the top turnbuckle, but on the head of her opponent (Haru Kazashiro I think) who is trapped in the corner, her sternum against the turnbuckles, her head bent uncomfortably, her face a mask of pain. The outfit is very similar to her previous outfits, but the main material is now black (with rhinestones) instead of pink. there are still strong accent colours of white, and lots of lace.

I just saw Jenny Saunders on the telly and immediately remembered her as a big advocate of building a big floating park in London when Boris Johnson was mayor.

a lot of legacy strips use clip art extensively, but computoon is by far the most inept at it. I'm pretty sure he just loads up the most recent strip to use that location, cut and pastes in whatever's needed, and then saves that strip to be brutalized again later.

The caption reads "It is not what you think. It's a cooking we site." It's impossible for me to say who's speaking, the clerk or the dog. Elements of cut and paste are visible on the sign, which is shaded with a simple gradient, that is interrupted by "software" and whited out entirely for "www.sniff.com". The underside of the sign is a mess of lines from previous placements. The clerk is standing in a box of white. He is standing in front of a glass-fronted display cabinet, where some goods have been erased, and a tiny desktop-pc is placed instead. have this surprisingly haunting abie the agent, an old strip about a rotund jewish car dealer. this was not the final strip.
An Abie the Agent strip from 1915, by Harry Hershfield. Lots of cross-hatching, and the newsprint is smudgey. Abie runs along the blocky deck of the back of a house boat. He is wearing a swimming costume and his hands are ready to dive. He says "Camping on a house boat here in arverne is already beautiful. While Morris is yet unwaked I'll give a dive off in the water. It's positive safe around here!". 2nd panel, Abie has dived in, and is reaching up. His arm only stretches halfway up the hull. He says "Oy, gevald! I couldn't reach up back again to the deck!". 3rd panel, Morris is now doggy paddling determinedly around the boat, yelling "Morris!". 4th panel, from the other side, the hull is no lower, he reaches no further. He says "No, it don't reach! I'm lost! If I only had something for stending on - oy, I'm getting cremps!" 5th panel, he is now paddling around to the front of the boat, again yelling "Morris!" 6th panel, a close up a Abie's hand, drawn in greater detail. You can see his hand is dripping wet, and he is clinging onto a single nail jutting out, his index finger curled around it. There's some suggestions of tremors in the cross-hatching, but I do not know if that's intentional. He yells, in a larger font size, speech balloon's tail thickly dangling to below the panel "MORRIS".

Out Our Way was a single-panel slice of life strip that started in 1922. It's a fascinating window into how different american life was at the beginning of the 20th century. In this example from 1947, it appears the police are sending a child into a burrow to retrieve human remains

Take It From the Tinkersons continues to be a boring work-place comic strip with a surprising willingness to kill off characters. This is like the third murder in the strip's short history.
