"Wheels within wheels in a spiral array..." A tale of two telescope setups on the same target; M33, the "Triangulum" Galaxy. On the left, 7.5 hours from the RedCat 51 with the ASI585MCPro using the UV/IR filter. On the right 8 from the LX200 with the ASI2600MCPro using the Multi Broadband filter.

First #M42 "Great Orion Nebula" of the season! I also realized it's the first time using the ASI2600MCPro with the new Starizona FR as well. This is 90 minutes of 3 minute exposures stacked together. Will add more data tonight! #SoCal #Astrophotography

On my morning this walk I came across this Horned Owl wrapping up Dawn Patrol! #SoCal #Wildlife

Also been getting 2.5 hours per night on #IC5146 aka the "Cocoon" nebula with the #LX200 setup. This is 27.5 hours combined and I don't think I have combined this much data on a single target yet! The surrounding dust lanes are really starting to show!

Started playing around with the mosaic function of the ASIAir with the #LX200 setup. It is really opening up the targets I could never get completely in the FOV. Four panels of #M31 and two panels of #M45 are coming along quite nicely!

Been collecting photons on the "Cygnus Wall" in NGC7000 aka the "North America" Nebula. With the #LX200 it really gets a lot of the detail close up as well as the surrounding dark nebulae. This is almost 6 hours using the multi broadband filter. #SoCal #Astrophotography

I finally retired my #Meade f/6.3 focal reducer for a new #Starizona 6.3 model on the #LX200 setup. I am super pleased with the results and now going back to some of my favorite targets in a whole new "light"! Here is 5 hours of #M27 and very little cropping had to be done! #SoCal #Astrophotography

Revisiting the #M27 stack for reprocessing with #Starnet Starting to get the hang of the new #Siril version and very pleased so far with the results! This is almost 3 hours of data combined. #SoCal #Astrophotography

Dialed in the #LX200 back-focus last night and was able to add some #NGC6888 data before the fog rolled in. I dug into the processing and was able to mellow out the stars and pull out some of the surrounding #OIII wispy goodness! This is almost 11 hours combined! #SoCal #Astrophotography

I saw this #Monarch caterpillar get into the "J" position underneath the overhang on our back wall. A few hours later I saw it morph into the chrysalis! And now we wait...

Updates on my #LX200 targets. Getting some nice detail overall. The collimation is a little off and I am hoping to have the spacers today to dial in the coma. Hoping to pull more of the OIII data out of the Crescent Nebula with over 9 hours so far! #SoCal #Astrophotography

Working on the back focus/focal length for the #LX200 since the moon is obnoxious in the Sagittarius region. Getting closer but still some coma in the corners. Probably need to check collimation. Still decent results on #M27 "Dumbell" Nebula and #NGC6888 "Crescent" Nebula. #SoCal #Astrophotography

I found this chrysalis not too far from the tropical plant. When we got back from our trip yesterday I saw this! They grow up so fast!

Switched back to the #ASI585MCPro last night. Worked on guiding settings and made some progress. Got a few hours in before the fog spoiled the party. Here are the #M8 and #M20 stacks with the Duo Narrowband Filter. Just under an hour each. Will hopefully get more tonight! #SoCal #Astrophotography
July 1, 2025 at 3:03 PM
Lastly, here is the #M16 area in Sagittarius. You can kind of make out the "Pillars of Creation". I will probably switch back to the #ASI585MCPro to get more detail soon! This is almost 9 hours of data combined. #SoCal #Astrophotography

Here is the #NorthAmerican nebula region in Cygnus. Love the gaps in the nebulae as well as the #Pelican details! This is over 13 hours combine! #SoCal #Astrophotography
June 30, 2025 at 5:42 PM
Here is almost 15 hours of the #RhoOphiuchi cloud complex. Need to dig into the processing a little more to bring the colors out but a lot of the dark dusty goodness is all in there! #SoCal #Astrophotography
June 30, 2025 at 5:28 PM
Finally getting around to combining all of my data into these master stacks! First up is the #M8 region! Love the star clouds and gaps! #SoCal #Astrophotography
June 30, 2025 at 5:23 PM
Just a few of the little rascals! Not so many on the narrow leaf plants but they are going nuts on the tropical plants!
June 26, 2025 at 7:22 PM
Update on the #RhoOphiucus data. I was mostly using the multi band filter (SV260) and it is really bringing out the dusty goodness but losing some of the reds. Will try to add more duo band data in the next few nights! This is almost 10 hours of data stacked together! #SoCal #Astrophotography
June 26, 2025 at 6:56 PM
Here is the deeper dive into processing the #VeilNebula Complex in Cygnus. Was able to pull out a lot of wispy details of the nebulosity and mellow out the stars. This is a little over 3.5 hours (over 4 nights) of total data combined. Loving the multi band filter! #SoCal #Astrophotography
June 20, 2025 at 7:04 PM
Here is the updated #Cygnus area targets. I might take another pass on the #Veil complex with StarNet to mellow out the background and bring out the nebulae. #NorthAmerica nebula and #Pelican are showing a lot of detail! #SoCal #Astrophotography
June 20, 2025 at 4:37 PM
Getting some quality photons and stacking them all together! Here is the updated combination of the last four nights in the #MilkyWay area. The color and dust are really starting to pop on the Rho area and the star gaps in the #M8 and #M16 regions are really cool! #SoCal #Astrophotgraphy
June 20, 2025 at 4:35 PM
Here is the Cygnus area stacks! Really starting to see the "Pelican" quite nicely near #NGC7000. Hoping to add even MORE data tonight! #SoCal #Astrophotography
