Is it illegal for a UK government to break a manifesto promise ?

Labour really needs to pull on the big tax levers (Income tax and VAT) but seemingly tied their hands by saying they wouldn’t put those up in the manifesto ?

But can’t they just say force majeure and do it anyway ??

IHT should be abolished - not because of the tax or otherwise that it raises but because it is so bloody complicated .

Take a look at the basic form (IHT400) everyone must complete to get probate- its a flipping head spinner - and you have to do this just after a loved one as passed away .

I really should stop even looking briefly at twitter.
Within 5 minutes I can feel the anger rising.

So many thick people.

NHS should be allowed to charge for “fast passes”
Rich people can pay to be seen quicker. At competitive rates (compared to private).
But money goes directly to NHS for improvements for everyone instead of being taken by greedy private healthcare.

No one complains when I do this at Alton towers.

UK should legislate that all new cars are fitted with dashcams (4K front, full HD minimum rear) with sufficient storage and ability to connect to phones.
Footage can already be uploaded to local police portals and people do get prosecuted / fined / points etc so kind of self funding

Just let Thames water go bust and let someone buy it out of administration. (Or nationalise it but still let the debt get wiped out)

Wipe out all the debt

But make sure the greedy fuckers running it are all fired.

When do we start actually cracking down on Russians going on holiday in the EU ?

Hotels should be told to turn down bookings - you have to present passports on check in whenever and wherever I have holidayed across Europe ?

Or are they all travelling on fake passports ?

@gavinesler.bsky.social encourage your followers to sign this petition. Let's force a parliamentary debate and start moving the mood in Westminster.
Petition: Apply for the UK to join the European Union as a full member as soon as possible
I believe joining the EU would boost the economy, increase global influence, improve collaboration and provide stability & freedom. I believe that Brexit hasn't brought any tangible benefit and there ...

Decided I have finally had enough of the way Twitter (and Musk) has gone.
The place is now a complete cesspit.
Deactivated my account and will not be going back.

Inheritance tax really is a bit crap . Stress on the bereaved having to work it all out (and one assumes every executor has to do the sums even if it’s obvious no tax would be due). The rich dodge it anyway. It only raises £7billion. And it’s widely loathed (even though only 4 % of estates pay it).
