I don't want to actually look at Twitter to see this, but, is it true Musk's response to this was to criticize her for using semicolons wrong? Because lol

Yeah....I thought about that. The actual image is uploaded to Wikimedia commons which doesn't have the same rules. I'm not exactly sure how that interacts with placing the image on Wikipedia. Might be a very epic policy violation!

A key to writing a Wikipedia article is finding a good source.
When the mood strikes me to write about shipwrecks or disasters I often turn to this map. Easy to find things with no article.

While that is a reasonable and correct deduction it would not be acceptable on Wikipedia because of the rule against Synthesis:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikiped...
However, no deduction is needed. Historians have directly stated that Coke "believed in the supremacy of the Anglo-Saxon race"

I find writing about shipwrecks in particular oddly soothing when my life (or the world) seems like a total mess. I have written 4 of them!
And there are lots more to go: check out all the red links (no articles) or non-link ship names in this list

As rule-bound as Wikipedia is, the rules are doubly strict for biographies of living people. What barrier do you hit?
The problem I see most often for people who want to edit their own biographies is: they aren't able source their statements with reliable sources.

I'll save you my soapbox about how Wikipedia's bureaucracy is superior to any real-world government and we should seriously think about implementing it at the national level. Suffice it to say, Wikipedia is my fave thing online and I hope I'll still be editing about roller skaters in 20 more years.

I believe "Grokipedia" is doomed.
Every Wikipedia article is shaped by the 3 core content policies:
1. Neutral point of view
2. No original research
3. Verifiability (my favorite)
Without policy to anchor the text, there's really no basis to reject anything. So no one can meaningfully edit.

For years I've been fighting neo-Confederates who REALLY DO NOT want the term "white supremacist" to appear in the biography of the 1874 governor of Texas.
The trouble for them is: reliable sources say that Coke *was* a white supremacist. The policy on Wikipedia is: reliable sources win!

The mechanism here is similar to the famous durability of the one particular photo of a human penis. Once a good-enough image is in place, there's no longer a good justification to replace it. So it stays.
Consensus is Wikipedia's system of decision-making, and it is fundamentally stable.

Whose Dick Is That on the Wikipedia ‘Penis’ Page?
Hundreds of penises have competed to be ‘the’ official penis featured on the Wikipedia human penis entry, but only one has enjoyed a decade-long reign as the official hog of humankind
