Trans rights are human rights, in the most profound and fundamental way.

"Your body, your choice." I've been saying that to my kids since they could talk. There's no autonomy without bodily autonomy. No freedom without freedom to do with your body what you want and to decline to have done to your body what you don't want. Freedom begins with our control over our bodies.

We stand with our people. Period. We stand with our allies. Period. We stand with the most vulnerable and most targeted among us. Period.

We stand for our principles and the world we want to build, and we build that world by fighting for it.

And by fucking inhabiting it.

Because the endgame of the anti-trans folks isn't about surgery, or hormones, or bathrooms, or sports teams.

Those are way-stations on the path to the world they're trying to build, which is a world of stifling gender conformity. And you can't beat them by giving them part of what they want.

I have friends whose attitude is "I miss the 70s, when the goal was that you could be whatever you wanted, present yourself however you wanted, and it didn't matter." And I get that. I do.

But the way we move toward that, if that's our goal? Militant, uncompromising defense of trans rights. Period.
