I have thought that for the last 10 yrs. I moved to DFW in 1981 and immediately heard all about “can’t trust Yankees from NYC!”. Then when a real live NYC con man comes along..all these native Texans say “he’s a thmart bidnessman!”. I will never understand this phenomenon

Have not been to Galveston in 20 yrs or so. Has the city-like trend of building a Home Depot, Texas Roadhouse, Starbucks, What-a-Burger, Wal-Mart, etc..on every major intersection infected the island yet…all in the name of “progress”?
