Not 100% sure of that. Consider that with the Ballinger deal, the Cubs just freed up $25 mil for the next few years, and have long coveted Alonso… ironically, now THEY’RE the ones to be worried about after the trade.

If it turns out he’s wrong, I’d really want to dig in and find out how that something like that happened… I have a hard time believing that a guy of that stature would just accept a Boras “leverage” deke and post it like that. A lot to untangle there if it’s total BS.

I’m a biased Mets fan, but I don’t think Cohen is outbid. The man has proved over the years that when he wants something, he goes to the point of borderline financial brutality to get it.

It MAY get up into the mid/high 700s if there’s a “war.” Not sure he has a “sane” limit. We’ll see.
