I finished this book yesterday.
It's nice to read about others examining their privilege & its implications.
I liked the autobiographical viewpoint & how the author illustrates how deeply ingrained stereotypes & bigotry are in our society.
Good read.

Though she be small, she be mighty.
Today this #DownSyndromeDiva turns 26 years old.
Smart & sassy
Funny & fearless
Persistent & perfect
The world is a better place because she's in it & I'm a better dad because she's my daughter.
Happy Birthday Maggie

There is staggering cruelty in intentionally making life more difficult for an already disadvantaged & marginalized community.
This will negatively impact someone you know & it will echo throughout their entire life.

My wise, beautiful, smart, & awesome wife recommended this book to me.
Folks, this one is going to stay with me for a long long time.
If you need/want to read something that's going to break your heart & rewire your brain, this is worth your time.

I finished this last weekend.
I'm glad I read it.
As is frequently the case, as bad as I assumed things were, they were far far worse.
They continue to be bad.
I so desperately want the world to be a better place.
Turning a blind eye to history won't improve anything.

I woke up and found that my kids have been reading the classics.
Every so often I feel like I hit a parenting save point.
This is one of them.

Today I finished A People's History of the United States by Howard Zinn.
Wow, not only does history repeat itself, it doesn't even bother to make enough changes to fool a plagiarism checker.
Same font & everything.
The book is a great argument for #NoWarButClassWar.
It's LONG but worth the time.

17 Years ago today we went on our first date.
I'm just so lucky that you chose me and continue to do so.
I'm still learning things about you.
You keep surprising me.
You keep making me laugh in new ways.
And you keep letting me touch your butt, which I also enjoy.

Hey team
This is my daughter Maggie.
She has diabetes, Down Syndrome, & autism.
She loves Barbie, Disney Princesses, The Wiggles, & Queen.
It's #DisabilityPrideMonth.
Cutting #Medicaid will leave her those like her without health care.
It's defacto eugenics.
Enjoy the disabled while you can I guess.

I finished this in February but I wanted to wait until #PrideMonth to share about it.
As a cis het fella, I learned a lot.
More people that share my demographic should read this book & books like it.
Challenge your preconceived notions and learn something you dorks.

Hey all,
Today is #WorldHumanistDay.
This life, in this world, is our central defining focus. Each one of us is responsible for the collective welfare of humanity, other beings, & the resources of our shared planet. We value freedom, reason, & tolerance.
It's not a bad way to be.

I finished this a couple of weeks ago.
The way that she demonstrated holding her space is heroic and inspiring.
The more I learn, the more I realize I have to learn.
It's a humbling journey but worth it.

As I continue this education the theme of white people using those with melanin as a bargaining chip is as familiar as it is disappointing.
If someone points out that you did or said some racist shit, learn to own it, apologize, then do better.

It's #WorldDownSyndromeDay.
Maggie is funny, smart, creative, opinionated, loving, bold, & determined.
She has taught me more about trust, bravery, & vigilance than anyone.
She loves the music of Queen, They Might Be Giants, & The Wiggles
Anti DEI policies are Anti Maggie.
Please remember that.

I finished this one today and I gotta say, it's one of my favorites.
If I had any power in the world this book would be a television series narrated by the author.
It's funny and smart and informative.
I highly recommend it!

This book was written by church goers for church goers so I felt a little voyeuristic reading it being that I'm a godless heathen. That being said, it was an interesting read and I would recommend it to anyone seeking a deeper understanding on the topic.

Another author that I've been trying to get to for a while that I can finally check off my list.
Really poetic, interesting, heartbreaking, and insightful.
Also a fascinating snapshot of the time and place he was living in.

One of the truest ways to demonstrate your love for someone is to give a gift that demonstrates that they can pilot the map of your heart with their eyes closed.
My wife bought me a fucking BOAR SPEAR.

I finished this book today. It felt appropriate to read it during #BlackHistoryMonth.
I've heard Angela Davis' name for years and I'm glad that I finally read some of her work.
I'll definitely revisit her in the future.
