MY FINAL ARTFIGHT ATTACK...FOR @polistini.bsky.social ...A comic of Wayfarer shortly after his arm's torn off, reckoning with reality and how he got here...
He recalls his brother's anger. "...He is to blame. His head in the clouds has done nothing but stopped him from looking at his own feet". A brief moment of them younger happy together in the snow. "...No. My lack of discipline made him aloof. By all means, it is I who failed to cultivate his potential." He sits in the shadows as his brother lifts a mug to a cheering crowd. A rope tightens ready to break. Corruption consumes the Shedim Wayfarer's arm. A mermaid version of him hangs in a net, his arm hangs out. "They are to blame. A society that lets this come to pass may as well be swallowed by beasts." A beast that resembles a deer with hands for a head walks by in a spotlight. "But...I knew the dangers more than any. It was bestowed upon me to weave this tapestry, and I have failed my duty not to become but a frayed thread." Jezail in hand he marches forward with his crew, hesitant and worried of the situation. "It was her fault" in a very dark text, a loud "No." is palced over it. "To have a thought cross my mind, I may as well be a monster masquerading as human. She smiled despite the sorrows that consumed us. She worked for our survival. I would be nothing without her." A woman stands, unpainted. The rope snaps. A closeup of the wayfarer's eye, they are tired. "I, am to blame. Yes, it has been so obvious all along." "The one who had let him succumb to hedonist carelessness." Younger he looks away from his happy brother. "The one who chose this trade, knowing the crimson river it flowers." He holds his gun, a reticle over his own head. "The one who could not save anyone, let alone himself." Various versions of the Wayfarer glare at him, now old and eyes in the shadows of his hat. A crude painting of a wolf with their left arm trapped in a bear trap. "All that's left for me to wait. Wait for my comeuppance."
