Watching an Italian cyclist cycle the wild Atlantic way (on prime). His commentary is brilliant, the videos he captured are absolutely stunning. What a beautiful country we have. I'm completely envious and gonna try and get back in the saddle for longer rides next year.

Well that was a bit of fun.

The cargo bike trial made us focus on what we needed in a cargo bike. After a good bit of research we settled on a bike from Decathlon. First impressions are great but I'll write up a full report on my findings.

If you are thinking about one.. do the trial first. Just ask @pfitzp.bsky.social

We'll be selling cattle next week, so I tuned into MartEye for a while to see how sales were going. It is a bugbear of mine that the mart doesn't have an API ;) to get sales data from. Instead I scrape it and use chat GTP to create my guide for next week. I'd be happy if I got those avg's next week.

20 Litres of paint, extension pole, skuttle bucket, rollers and brushes.

No problem for the cargo bike.

I'll have to give the bike back soon but I now know it is a good idea and it's easy to cycle. I also know we need a front bucket that has a door. Bike to work scheme here we come.. but I won't be giving up the commuter bike because it is an awesome bike to tear around on and it goes everywhere.

Always good to visit thee.
Until the next time.

Uber a few days ago marked as likely scam (among others), now using SMS Highway to send their messages and using their senderid (SMSway) to avoid getting tagged... But why would I trust Uber (or anyone) sending messages this way?

The cover on the bucket is very good the kids can open/close them and roll them up if needed. The space in the bucket is very good - the seat and straps are easy and comfortable.
The only niggle with the bucket is that you have to left them in/out.

Some more info about the cargo bike we have on loan.
It's a Dolly Cargo bike, made in NL. www.dolly-bikes.com/de-dolly-bak...

The controls are simple. Turn on the computer and set the level of assistant (1 min, 5 max). The gears at the back is an internal hub gear box. This has a lot of benefits.

We wanted to test it out before buying a cargo bike. For me it's been great so far. It is helping the decision to exact kind of bike as well.
There is a learning curve but not steep. It takes a while to find the centre of gravity and turning requirements. The e-assistance is great!!

Went for a spin on a stunning single track mountain bike trail here in the Netherlands. Through a forest and then sand dunes made for a tricky ride - you needed to be concentrating 100%.
It was made easier by the fact I had an ebike but boy was it fun! 27km in an 1hr15.

While having breakfast this morning in Limerick I watched this sparrowhawk have his/her breakfast.

Some day for it. 1st cut safely done.
Yield is way down due the extended sunny period with little or no rain. Hoping that the 2nd cut will make up for it.

Really bad picture of what I spotted in the field today - a corn crake.
It has been years (decades?) since I saw one on our land. Delighted they are back.

Went back in for the panoramic wheel which I think location wise is spot on. Nice stroll past the Hunt museum, over the bridge in to the potato market. The stalls with artists selling their art was lovely when we visited on Saturday.

My mum refers to those soft chocolate covered mallows (from Rose) Easter eggs as Guggie eggs. I never knew where the word came from, then I found this article on RTE which solved the mystery!

Happy Easter!

There's an interesting article in the farmers journal about the IP (Intellectual Property) surrounding AI (Artificial Insemination) and how AI companies are looking to lock farmers in with membership. My brain defaults to artificial intelligence so it took a few reads to get my head around it.

Generated 34kWh yesterday in the near perfect bell curve. Today will be another good production day here in Limerick!

It started out as COVID curiosity, 1000 games later, I'm still enjoying the daily wordle.

Bought cattle last weekend. A couple days in the shed to make sure they are okay and then today out on grass for the next 7 months. We put a new electric fence all around the place for safety and protect the walls. I'm on a mission to get all the stone walls back to a good standing.

The near perfect production day by the solar panels.
This is only mid-March and the total output today was 30kWh.
