Living in the Loire Valley, France.
Dog wrangler, gin drinker, carp lake owner, procrastinator & psoriasis warrior.
Elsie, our Anglo French hound has been unwell recently.
There were some benign lumps near her liver that needed taking out.
She’s on the road to recovery but hates that she needs to be kept home for 2 weeks. A quick 10 mins outside for her before she’s back by the fire.

Our new rescue dog, Peps, is really settling in. He is a dream dog, so kind and loving despite his huge size.
Our lakes open today for carp anglers & he’s already made new friends.
He is learning he can’t just jump into the lake whilst people are fishing & that bite alarms are no danger!

He is amazing. So respectful, despite his huge size. He has fitted into our pack perfectly.
We adore him. And he seems to love his new life.

Today, just 3 weeks since he came to us, he sleeps upstairs with all our other dogs. He has access to our 2 fishing lakes to run around. He has learnt what dog treats are. He has learnt that our log fire in our lounge is the best place to sleep in front of.

So meet Peps! Our rescue Beauceron.
He’s a giant! Coming in at over 55kgs and standing virtually as tall as me.
Never been in a house before. Never seen stairs. Never walked on a leash. Never had interaction with other dogs.

Peps lived in a field with a small shelter. He had plenty of food and water. His foster family did their best to take care of him.
But we knew he needed a proper home.

He had been placed with a charity organisation, but he had to live outside by himself. The foster carers had a small dog that didn’t take to him.

When our dear Harry showed signs of saying goodbye to us, we started searching for the next dog in need of help.
We came across a Beauceron who had been abandoned and now living with foster carers in our village.

We will always cherish the time we had with him.
He leaves a big hole in our lives.

We said goodbye to our beautiful Harry yesterday. It was time.
Although we only had him for the final 3 years of his life, we know we gave him the very best.
A rescue from certain death within days, Harry went on to love life in our home.
He was the best dog. Always happy, always my shadow.

Vet is amazed he’s still marching forward. We have meds to make his time comfortable, he still wants to play.
So, we carry on until he tells us it’s time.
Goats milk soaked cereal is his favourite

Our Harry is still plodding forward. The cancer is still there, but he’s still eating and enjoying life. We know time is running out, but his symptoms are under control.
He wanted you all to know that ‘the day’ isn’t quite there yet.

He’s given us so much joy and has loved his new life with us. We’ve had 2 wonderful years with him, he is such a good boy.
We’ll cherish all the time we have left with him

Harry. Our ‘show retriever’
Rescued by us 2 summers ago. Found him dragging himself past our gates in 40 degree heat. Owners abandoned him due to skin and ear problems.
We are giving him his best life but now he has been diagnosed with agressive cancer.
