I tend to like a single "hero" rather than a party of pig-farmers/nerfherders in my soloplay aswell even tho variety is a spice of life.
What system(s) are you running?

It´s all the same hobby. I probably like the prep more than the play in the end. Getting the right tools, new booklet, printing out new char-sheets. Going downtown to pick up a cornerrounder for the home-printed booklets.

Descent is a handful for sure, unless one is used to ttrpgs or such. It´s kinda a mid-mechanical game that is fiddlier than it needs to be. Mind you, I am talking about 1st and 2nd ed only, maybe the newest edition is smooth.

Descent is one of the GOATs imo, solo or several people.
Clank! Dungeon is really fun at 4+ players, highly reccomend.
