this is my favorite scene written for the fic so far ✨
Hojo doesn't bother glancing up from his papers when Vincent enters the office. "Make your report quick, Valentine." "I'd have thought you would be more invested in the outcome," Vincent says. "Well, he's not here, is he?" The pen makes its usual scratch-scratch noise as the scientist scribbles out a few more words. "I'd have far better things to do than listen to your report if he was." Vincent is too used to Hojo's demeanor by now to take any offense. "The target… did not appreciate the offer. Additional surveillance is needed." This time, Hojo looks up, dark eyes calculating over the rim of his glasses. "Additional surveillance, hm?" Any excuses Vincent might have prepared die on his tongue. Right from the start, Hojo, too, had been one of the few able to pick out Vincent's softness with a single glance, like a shark smelling blood in the water, but the scientist has never bothered beating around the bush trying to reassure him over it. In fact, they've never spoken about it once. Hojo is the only one who has ever made Vincent feel as small and insecure as Grimoire did, with nothing more than a look. "Well, no matter." Hojo returns to his papers. "Far be it from me to micromanage a Turk. Just don't come crying to me when you increased your workload of your own will." Vincent dips his chin in a stiff nod. "Yes." "Or Lucrecia, for that matter." The other man's tone is just a bit too pointed to pass as casual. "She's far too busy for unnecessary distractions." A hard, ugly emotion rises to sit like a rock in the back of Vincent's throat. "… Yes."

The only response he gets is a muffled thumping from behind, and Cloud cranes his neck only to realize that Vincent's tail has started wagging, hitting the mattress repeatedly. Vincent seems oddly pleased, as if in his mind he'd passed some kind of inspection, and… well, maybe he has.

yeah this seems about right
bahamut megaflare: deal 6125% magic non-elemental damage (range: all enemies). charge speed 4032 chaos rampage: deal 6600 physical/magical non-elemental damage (range: single enemy). also, physical attack is increased. magic attack is increased. when self's hp is 30% or less, haste is applied.
