My older cousin played Damn the Torpedoes for me when I was almost in junior high. I was a fan forever after that. In the succeeding decades, no matter which good or bad musical phase I was in, Tom Petty was always there for me, doing his thing in the best way imaginable. Astonishing.

Back in the 90’s I was volunteer bartending for a local arts event and Tony Orlando was the guest celebrity emcee. I talked with him for a while afterward. Super nice guy.
