As farming in UK takes knock after knock it is easy to sink into a slough of despair. Could someone on here please say something uplifting about farming/farmers/farms - even if it is just a nice picture of a cow?

The magnificent @theguardian.com columnist Marina Hyde nails the ‘tech bro’s’ in her latest column: “I suppose one of the comic pleasures of these times is watching the nerds making common cause with the guys who would 100% have given them a wedgie in school, purely because they are now all rich.”.”

Following this with much interest. the value of farm clusters needs to be recognised as part of the discussion.

Beautiful walk along coast today. North Sea looked cold but magnificent and this little fella accompanied us some of the way.

Fabulous morning with members of the North Norfolk Coastal Farmers Group. We discussed and dissected the new CS Higher Tier, spoke about the ‘Now, Next and Not Now’ principle of environmental actions and heard from Thomas Gent about the exciting opportunities that exist for farmers right now.

What have I done to get non-stop pictures of cats on my timeline. Note to algorithm: I love dogs, cats are okay. I also like most sports but I don’t need all my cat pics to be interspersed with American football comments. I’ve posted a pic of my dogs to drive home the point.

A single 400-year-old ancient oak produces 234,000 litres of oxygen a year while soaking up carbon dioxide, and can support more than 2,000 species of bird, insect, fungus, and lichen. Nature is amazing - we need more of it, not less. Please repost if you agree 🌳

Book recommendation for anyone interested in learning more about the UK’s natural landscape.
England: a natural history is jam-packed with facts, stories & keen observations. John Lewis-Stempel is a wonderful wordsmith, a naturalist & a farmer & this book combines knowledge from all three.
