these things are always simpler than they want you to think

I remember being very proud of having acclimated to living in the tropics last year, but wondered openly how I would fare coming back to Boston.

WELP today is the first day of real cold (34F) and I am a HUGE BABY ABOUT IT

only a little ways into Pluribus but this is the kind of screen that basically guarantees I will want to watch the rest of it

Every city deserves to have a mayor who loves the city. It's weird how rare that is. Apart from all the wonky coalition building stuff people can work backwards to explain how he won, the impressive rise was because people were attracted to a genuine sense of "this guy actually knows and likes NYC."

I want to share all y'all's hilarious takes with the group chat, but

Canon Law professor enjoyed my goofy footnote but also is about to ruin his weekend

I just really like the trees in my little Jesuit community, y’all

(here’s that same one from the background, captured on my way back from our community mass this morning)

My first thought was to set up the timelapse camera out of this window, but it’s in a bathroom so that would have been both weird and humid… would have been nice to also get the tree behind it tho. Alas!

Nature’s first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.

My favorite part of this aspect of him in art is how he is always pointing at Jesus (if there) and if not there just kind of points at heaven, but sometimes carries his own little miniature lamb around just so he can point at it

at last, @zachweinersmith.bsky.social has managed to sum up the entire history of philosophy.

Worth recalling the natural law tradition that taking food if you're starving is not simply *allowed*, it is not even correct to call it stealing. In a just society nobody would starve, therefore any law which would allow starvation is by definition unjust and thus is no longer a law.

The Code of Canon Law fortunately does not speak on such matters, usually containing administrative stuff like this (c. 337 §3)
October 26, 2025 at 7:02 PM
look, most of the footnotes here are dry-as-heck citations of the Code of Canon Law so I gotta mix it up a little bit

Having fun outlining the limits of papal authority in the footnotes for my Canon Law midterm.

In fairness, I suppose, failure to receive this teaching is also 2000-ish years old. (Mark 10:17-22, NRSVue)
