Also born in Canada my relative Bill Millin, Lord Lovat's piper whose Commandos landed on Sword Beach on D-Day, has a statue in Caen. Bill led the charge across Pegasus Bridge & survived (apparently) because the German Commander ordered his men not to shoot him (Bill didnt know that though!).
