The unexamined life is unlivable for a human being. Philosophy prof. La Salle University (Philly USA). ΑΦΔ. La Salle AAUP. ENTJ. Always tired.
After watching that rally in the Poconos and the lies, racism, and hate spewing from that turdweasel as he whips up the crowd, I'm going to have to get a bigger bottle to keep in the fridge for when it happens. This little one won't be enough.

I should have posted some pics. In addition to the personalized note, each book has a gold embossed seal inside that says "from the library of" the couple.

I assume these tacky gold embellishments are just put up with construction adhesive and can be easily popped off, and the White House returned to its understated elegance, once its occupant is no longer a tin-pot tyrant given to tasteless, gaudy, cheap ostentation.

We ended up with around 190 trick-or-treaters tonight, from babies in strollers to high schoolers, with a wonderful array of costumes. The 50 packs of fruit snacks were a hit, along with 2 bags of mandarin oranges and 48 packs of ramen. We are only left with candy.

I was tired & grumpy this afternoon, which led me to picking fights with idiots online - generally against my better judgment. Discussions around SNAP benefits pushed me over the edge. One libertarian commenter baldly asserted that there was no welfare pre-New Deal when Marxists took over. I replied

On a local news crime report, some racist asshole on TikTok commented, "They destroyed every nice neighborhood across the country. They would make this look like Africa without us." Who is "they"? Who's "us"? I responded, asking, "Oh Africa? Like this? ...Or like this?" with pics of Lagos & Nairobi:

This, btw, is a dog whistle to recruit neo-nazis & other fringe white nationalists to work for ICE. I was never comfortable with creating DHS in the wake of 9-11 to correct intelligence failures. It seemed ripe for abuse of authority. But I never imagined it being taken over so easily by fascists.

At The Mann Center to see Dahsboard Confessional and Goo Goo Dolls.

This strange alien creature turned up out back of our house. M
I played with her a bit and managed to scoop her up. She's on her way now to our nearest open veterinarian practice to see if she has a microchip. Hopefully, we'll be able to find her family and help her get home.

At the seaside today, continuing my psoriasis therapy.

Getting veggies from our CSA more quickly than we can eat them all, so I took a big head of napa, some daikon, carrots, scallions, and garlic scrapes, and made some kimchi.

An average salary of $46K is crazy in Philly, especially for 9000 workers who keep this great city running - sanitation, water, 911 dispatch, airport, L&I, libraries, parks & rec, streets, corrections, housing authority. Hopefully the City makes better offers soon, especially with July 4th looming.

I'm not usually a fan of non-standard Oreo flavors, but the Selena Gomez ones - inspired by hortchata - are yummy. Lightly chocolate & cinnamon cookies have a European spice biscuit feel. And the filling is two-layered: a cinnamon-choclate creme & a condensed milk creme with cinnamon-sugar granules.

Not just the South. John Christian Bullitt, who wrote the 1885 "Bullitt Act" that became the Philadelphia City Charter, also helped lead the anti-Lincoln Philadelphia Central Democratic Club, founded on the "self-evident" truth of white rule.

Spent yesterday down the shore to escape the 101°F Philly weather. It was 88°F and breezy along the beach, with a nice cool ocean to wade into. Also very quiet for Wildwood. And there were frozen cocktails.

There is absolutely zero evidence for DHS's claim - as several investigative journalists have demonstrated - unless, of course, you characterize anything other than immediate, unqualified obedience as "violence." It's like ICE was trained by Gothard and Dobson.

Just me and 100,000 friends taking a walk. (I bet mine was the only sign with the word "obsequious" on it.)

I've been reading (as one does) Victor Serge's "What Every Radical Should Know About State Repression" and arrived at this passage earlier this week. Seemed timely.

Also: Henry David Thoreau, Nathaniel Hawthorne, Louisa May Alcott, and Ralph Waldo Emerson. All buried with feet of each other.

I mentioned wandering cemeteries recently. New England ones are particularly creepy: skull & crossbones, skull with wings, weeping angel (don't blink!), and probably a witch.

...but I doubt most of these drivers have the time or experience to effectively organize. The package in question, you ask? Green wristbands emblazoned with "W.W.S.D. What Would Socrates Do?" 200 of them. Their arrival date was estimated as June 09 and I'd never received a shipping notice. Surprise!

Stop acting like the Gestapo & people will stop making comparisons. Also many who ICE goes after did not *come* to the country illegally: outspoken visa-holding students, people who overstayed, those brought here as children, legal Venezuelan migrants. But the Gestapo lies while hiding behind masks.
