NPR's Pop Culture Happy Hour podcast came to much the same conclusion as Jana Reiss. Good performances portraying supremely terrible people. Not the type of hype I want to support, given how that trope is playing out in our real lives right now.

Oh, I haven't missed it. There are really dumb ideas and decisions that the characters make, no question. But that happens in real life, too, with people expecting us to get on board with terrible people and choices. I'm not saying it's good we should cheer, just saying it's kinda accurate.

I get the hate, despite my undying love for Love Actually. But I think it gets hate because the premise is miscategorized. I don't think it's meant to be a rom-com. I think it's meant to show the complications and absurdities of all types of love, expanded to move proportions. So we hate AND relate.

I love this. I'd also love to know other titles that were on the short list. "Bless These Donuts to Nourish and Strengthen Us?"

I am BEGGING reporters to please press the administration for the evidence they used to justify killing all these people. Stop taking their word for it that these people are drug dealers!

One day, when I was a student waiting to meet a prof in the U of U Languages and Lit office, I overheard a VERY respected lit professor respond to a question about what she did over summer vacay by saying, "I read trashy romance novels every day. It was glorious." Perspective changed!!!

My interactions with this woman in her role as county councilperson have given me little doubt that she does not care one whit about anyone who doesn't look like her or believe like her.

Or...people reversed the previous act of vandalism. You know, since the flagpole was installed illegally in the first place.

Sad news. He truly cares about Millcreek and takes time to personally listen and care for residents, my parents included. Best wishes, Mayor.

I sighed so loudly at work today that four people asked if I was ok. NO, I'M NOT OK. NO ONE IS OK.

AP just posted that TP USA confirmed he was shot.

Uh, this story needs an editor. First *aid. Also, Cottonwood Heights is south of I-215, not I-15.

Thanks for the reminder that EVERYONE occasionally needs to say, "I'm having a really hard time and I need to take a break." It's the only way we'll maintain the strength to keep fighting the good fight. I appreciate you and the way you show up (or don't, when needed 😉).

Wow. That's a bold statement anywhere, but in Rexburg? That's the type of move that risks the loss of your job, your friends, your church calling, and even your church membership. Sending aaallllll the good vibes and support to that brave soul.

May we all age as gracefully and bad-assedly.

In your process, how do you encourage the break? Do you force yourself through it or back off and let things percolate? Both? Neither? Asking for a comms professional who still hasn't figured out how to beat the block, even after 20 years in the business. (It's me.)

Honest question: why are you giving this guy a platform? He's a crook and a conman. That's it. We don't need to know what he thinks about anything.

This would have been way funnier if it was the baby.

"I love you. Aaaannnnddd I'm coming for you." Our kids must be twinners. Because I felt this as a chill in my spine and a need to look over my shoulder.

Our banned TV show was The Fresh Prince of Bel Air. As a guilty-about-lack-of-FHE family ourselves, we knew it was serious when they called an FHE specifically to watch an ep together and write down and share all the reasons it was inappropriate. I ended up as an apostate anyway. 😉

Please believe me when I say that these dudes--because they are nearly all dudes--embarrass the hell out of us. Every legislature session is just a race to the bottom.

But can we talk about that super-stylish sweater?? I have two "gotcha" mutts and couldn't agree more--they are a treasure. I'm glad you found each other.

Eli, I love that you basically adopted a mini-you.
