I think it’s just a convention, the maths works either way round. Interested in what others think. BTW the thing the students always struggle with is endo or exo Enthalpy of solution

Uni of York MOOC Exploring everyday chemistry is good. RSC screen expts. Cambridge Chem challenge. Maybe join with another school to do the schools analyst competition.

I agree with Helen’s advice. You’re not expected to know the answer or even get the question right but you need to be able to describe your thought process. We practice by describing an unfamiliar mechanism out loud.

The oxalic acid is oxidised to carbon dioxide and water. It’s autocalytic though so after a while you get interesting data! #chatchemistry
