Valid observation, I do think there is difference in the meaning/value of party memberships between UK & USA.

I don’t think that’s a fair characterisation. Sure, some of them are bad apples like any cohort, but majority aren’t
I don’t agree with the point of their protests & most won’t even be affected. They’re mostly doing it to shore up their agendas and in “solidarity” with those who will be affected.

Negotiation/s will certainly be harder but we cannot turn a blind eye for Russia’s actions which are escalating the war, and expect Ukraine to fight with their hands tied behind their back.

Frankly, I find the timing (given current political landscape in Germany has undermined his political authority) bizarre - I argue that he’s not in a position to take that “lead” role.

Spot on, his way of “comeback” against those who doubted him and his commercial & non commercial decisions because he perceives them as the best decisions ever.
