The article addresses a similar subject matter as my ongoing PhD research @ucllaws.bsky.social . I argue that the CPTPP contains a mechanism that could help build up civil society involvement in climate decision-making in countries where such space has historically been constrained, and explain why.

The case ran in parallel to an equivalent case brought by Malaysia. But, while Malaysia and the EU agreed to release the report, Indonesia requested a suspension of the proceedings in its case. www.wto.org/english/trat...

Will be fun to see what one can draw from this in the ongoing debate on implementation/enforcement approaches of FTA sustainability provisions (though mostly happening in the context of EU FTAs). Signposting to Prévost and Alexovičová (2019), Bronckers and Gruni (2019, 2021) and Marín Durán (2023).

The big thing in the FFS Chapter that stands out to me is that it does not apply to production subsidies for oil and natural gas “when granted in the form of tax revenue foregone”. Such forgone revenue constitutes the majority of the production-related support in the OECD Inventory.
