Husband and Dad. I’m a runner, reader, writer and Rotarian. Family social media culler and always struggling to be of service. Passionate about public education and non profit leadership.
Clearly Mr Bump was looking to a staff writer for the New Yorker for help. I wish my family had the ability to have you settle our arguments too. Our 15 year old Model UN fanatic could use you in his fave 5, we all could.

Great list. I’d add: Garfield. There’s enough there to swamp him. The. I’d go, Guinness book of world records and follow that with Tricia books. The bathroom reader is a great series.

It’s simply about reading. Raise a reader and do it by getting them to read what they want. It has to be organic

The damage is done. It’s unconscionable. They’re trying to traumatize American women.

Change language to: “they are trying to traumatize Americans”. Call everyone an American.

I’d imagine anything that starts with ‘antibiotic resistant’ is bad for you… bacteria, infections, or the leadership of Secretary Kennedy.

A great interview with Jamaica Kincaid the other day on the NewYorker podcast. She made a point of saying what she does is read where many people today call it Research. As a man who’s married to a physician / researcher, my wife especially found that moment funny and pointedly true.

It’s the largest regressive tax hike in our nation’s history
August 25, 2025 at 1:01 AM
Congressman. The tariffs have created the largest regressive tax hike in our nation’s history. This is the language people understand.

Another language dipiddydo is to stop referring to people as residents of or federal workers from, rather call them… Americans. He’s traumatizing Americans!
