Of course, cities/counties/jurisdictions can vary in their rules, but there are many states that generally allow open carry without a permit as long as you are 18+ & a legal owner. In case you are concerned for your safety.

You can still peacefully protest. In many places, you can also arm yourself if you're concerned for your safety. For example, when your lawmakers or unelected criminals are, let's say, actively involved in a coup.
