Im thinking of a tangential point now- imo otters really wants to be the best deck. It attacks the metagame by trying to be hard to counter. We have learned it matches horridly into the actual best deck every time. Theres probably been similar decks in the past.

Which otters? Its several different decks in a trenchcoat, isn't it?

I guess these guys just really didn't learn absolutely anything from the 20th century.

Did people just really, really hate Corbyn???

Doesn't "Canada hates Canada's system" make the slippery slope argument stronger? "We ended up with something awful we didn't want" seems to take precedence over "Nobody wants to do this."

The amount of legal cards in timeless that are banned in legacy kindof beggars belief. And we don't have the power 9 or tinker to make it vintage-lite either.

I do have to ask who is the NATO ally here? Ireland or Ukraine?
December 5, 2025 at 2:46 PM
At least you've actually looked. I basically haven't played mtg since I qualified.

Environmental politics are not the same as climate politics, imo they are also frequently opposed and its mad that environmental green politicians and activists get to benefit politically from climate activism.

WIth the ballot paper in front of me I weighed up "I really don't want to vote for a possible Russian stooge" and "She's the only one that seems presidential" and it took me a while to make my decision. Without worrying about the Russian stooge foreign policy stuff it would have been an easy choice.

The current technology is pattern matching on a huge scale in tons of dimensions with tons of data. The limits are problems which can't be solved with pattern matching on a huge scale in tons of dimensions with tons of data, which we aren't going to know until we attempt them (language got solved).

It's also very reasonable to have arrived there - 3 years ago they go "what's all this AI hype about?", try it themselves, find it sucks and doesn't live up to the hype, so dismiss the hype as being miracle scam nonsense (like crypto or nfts) and then don't have a new reason to re-evaluate since.

Not that this is ever relevant in formats where you can do this, but snow covered forest and forest are different names, right?
July 11, 2025 at 2:02 PM
I do hate that people who think "we're going to call this by a derogatory name" use "Big Ugly Bill" instead of the much catchier "Big Bad Bill."
July 3, 2025 at 5:24 PM
Plus there's the verge chirality to make things even weirder within color combos :) Not that that's likely to matter too too much.

No mono red? I know two cards got banned from it but that deck was nuts.

Even besides them just look at how America reacted to Russia invading Ukraine vs India maybe invading Pakistan. The nuke dichotomy is clear. The unprecedented scary part about Iran is that the world just learned "We don't have a nuke but we could make one if we had to" doesn't count as having nukes.

My own take as a European - the stance of "Well... if the options are accepting Israel has a right to do whatever in Palestine or spending effort to keep them fighting each other indefinitely this might be better" has run headlong into "What do you mean Israel has a right to do whatever in Syria?"

Looking at the example of the UK with Brexit, as that was also a completely self-inflicted thing. Once they were properly out of the EU they no longer had full control of the effects. I think once there's enough retaliation / decoupling with the US dropping the tariffs isn't going to be enough.

Even without doing grossly unfair stuff I'm curious what the good enters abilities are to get every turn with this plus another when this gets removed.

I assume the third "make 2 bodies for 2 mana" card is not playable in convoke, especially given this is not a creature for knight errant of eos. Not sure if the second mode would justify it though.

I'm the sicko saying this is really good with up the beanstalk and you're here to tell me this is just a limited card.
