I love reading books, watching British mysteries and going on long walks. I teach early childhood. "The words you speak become the house you live in."

I read THE ROOFTOPPERS by @katherinerundell.bsky.social. I am much older than the audience it's intended for but I still enjoyed the book. It's a clean, easy, fast read. I loved when Sophie said that mothers are a place to put your heart down..a resting stop to recover your breath.

I saw a drone show last night and while the whole thing was visually stunning, the best part was that no dogs, wildlife, veterans or neurodivergent people were traumatized by it.
Who needs fireworks anymore?

Just finished IN A NEW YORK MINUTE by Kate Spenser.
1. The author loves NYC.
2. She also likes bagels.
3. @hallmark.bsky.social needs to pick up this book.
I loved the line where she compared being with someone you love to coming home to a light on.

Summer is the only time I can sit and watch TV, and I want to give a standing ovation to Amazon Prime's series "Ballard" and "Butterfly".

I am watching The Residence on Netflix. The casting and the also the writing by Paul William Davies is <chef's kiss> perfection!

If you're in a book club, you may want to suggest Aftertaste for your next selection. It's very thought provoking.

What a great story about WWII and the brave citizens of Britain who banded together to stand against fascism! If you have a preteen, or if you are looking for a good, fast read, I loved this book by Ruth Sepetys and Steve Sheinkin:

At the Scholastic Book Fair I read the book "No Such Thing As A Unicorn" by Lucy Rowland. A child said, "No! Not a unicorn book!" After I read the book, he said, "Read it again!" Highly recommend this book for the 3-5 year old crowd!
Katy Halford's pictures were perfect!

@zachweinersmith.bsky.social and Boulet, chef's kiss for Bea Wolf! The writing was haiku quality! We need her rally cry today:
Go home! My hands guard this hall! For 6 and 7 days, your storm shrouded our stars! Rains of sorrow, rivers of sadness..
Make no more clouds. I have drawn the rainbow here.

I tried to wait until Spring Break to read the latest installment of City Spies but London was calling me and I listened. I adore this middle grade series and I know my 10 year old self would have read the books over and over.
@jamesponti.bsky.social I can't wait to learn Annie's spy name!

Read INSIDE THREAT by Matthew Quirk and it was so tense and thrilling that my palms sweat as I read it!

The 1st graders learned about Florence Mills and how great singers like Aretha Franklin, Alicia Keys and Samara Joy stand on her shoulders. Then we sang karaoke. Let me tell you from firsthand experience, hearing the ABC song sung 10 times in a row is it's own torture.

After reading 3 so-so books in a row, I found a good one! @stevenrowley.bsky.social you did it again! I adored The Guncle! I worried the sequel wouldn't measure up. It did! Skip watching the news, people! Run out and buy The Guncle Abroad and laugh yourself silly!

Need an escape from the news? I just listened to the Silver-Haired Sisterhood by @judyleighauthor.bsky.social and it was like watching the Golden Girls: funny and uplifting. The narrator Phyllida Nash did a wonderful job!

@chrishaughton.bsky.social wrote this book and it is a winner every year when I read it! The 4 year olds love it! We read it and then we put on "clothes of invisibility" and creep around the school trying to sneak up on colorful birds with shapes on them. It's also a soothing bedtime story.

This children's book by Jessie Oliveros made me cry. Hard. It's a beautiful explanation about what Alzheimers does to our loved ones. God bless us all who have to collect the remember balloons for our loved ones once they have let their balloon bouquet go.

This book by Benji Davies helps children process the loss of a grandparent in a gentle, thoughtful way. I have a student who held onto this book for 2 weeks. I'm not sure who needed it more: him or his parents.

If you are looking to escape the news right now, I recommend reading The Elias Network by @simongervais.bsky.social . It's a rollercoaster ride of a thriller that allowed me to hide from the world for 2 days while I read it.

I just finished The Cream Tea Killer by @judyleighauthor.bsky.social. 2 things: I desperately want to go to Cornwall to eat a pasty and everytime Morwenna gets on her bike I hear the theme music to Murder She Wrote.
I want to be Morwenna's friend and gossip with her over a cup of cream tea.

I just listened to the audiobook Vera Wong's Unsolicited Advice for Murderers by Jesse Q Sutanto. Great story! A funny and sweet mystery. The narrator Eunice Wong did a great job reading the story! It left me hungry for Vera Wong's cooking and another book with her starring in it!

We are reading a biography this week: Magic Ramen: The Story of Momofuku Ando.
He invented instant ramen noodles so that anyone could afford a warm, nourishing meal. The kids love reading this book because it always ends with us eating a steaming cup of ramen soup!
