The World Economic Forum just released their report on Global Risks. It offers important insights into the mechanistic linkages between the identified risks and the policies that produced them, or are intended to mitigate them. It's worth reading.

I studied the ecology of disturbances in grad school. After a disturbance, systems are reset and they become highly productive. The American ecosystem is in the ascent days of a resetting disturbance. There will better days.
