This tree is a horse chestnut. A big one. The roofline in the background is the apex of our neighbours house. The top right of the crown of the tree is green. To the left, you can see that it's dying. It'll probably last another year or two but it'll have to come down.

I asked for someone to help me stack it this year. Usually Mrs Tom and I do it over two days. With three consenting adults and two wheelbarrows, after 4 hours of huffing and puffing, we were done. 8 steres, stacked and covered. It was worth every penny.

I have a fondu set in the barn somewhere.
The French tend to favour the Raclette grill. You can buy actual raclette cheese. The grill sits in the middle of the table, and you do your own molten lava cheese, with other fried/grilled tit bits to add interest. It's very much a winter toy.

I bought some washing sponges with antibactetial properties in them. Mrs Tom refuses to wash the pots with them.
