With this comm I think I realized how important clean line art and shading is. While not every art style is super clean and crisp, I can't seem to get a messy look to work well for me, so I will be attempting to make things look cleaner and smoother instead going forward.

This is my first time doing a story page and a variant, in preparation for opening commissions! 😉

Below are test drawings from before and after, I think the Kohaku portrait is much better than the Venti one.
Now I want to focus on getting back to weekly illustrations and commissions!

I wanted this week to be the one where I really completed the shading and rendered out everything well, but due to life stuff and slow workflow I didn't quite get there.
Life stuff will always come around, but I have thought of ways to shade in a more simple way

This week I got one step closer to a completed illustration, I got to the shadows and some effects like highlights, but I still wasn't able to finish everything. I think it's looking better than my last illustration though

This week I'm happy I was able to draw 2 characters in one scene, which I think is the first time I've done that before! Unfortunately I did not even have time to finish the shading, so here the drawing is in sketch form.

More practice, I feel like this is an improvement over my previous practice with Astolfo and I've ended up improving my method and techniques for most of the shading process. I have even more things to change for my next drawing, so I can more easily make variants!

With this drawing I wanted to keep it small and simple so I could focus on rendering out the shading completely and making the drawing look professional which I have never been able to do before.
