Jobs for this Saturday
Here’s what we’ve got planned for this week:
• Make fruit bush cuttings for SHJM and some to take home
• Removing old vegetable plants (tomatoes) that have stopped producing
• Potting on leeks
• Tidying borders and cutting back plant growth

We will also be planting broad beans again as they did so well over the last winter. We will also use one of the winter sessions to turn the compost heap, probably November, which will aerate the material which will help with the composting process.

It might be cooler in the garden but there is still plenty to do and we might finally get on top of gardening the borders. The school will be planting onions and garlic in pots next week and again planting them out into the garden once the plants develop some roots.

I do hope that people managed to pick some and I must give a big thank you to everyone who helped out either by gardening, donating or just visiting the Cwm for a few quiet moments, its there to be enjoyed.

It's been a very fruitful year with lots of produce coming out of the garden from kale, onions, leeks and broad beans in the winter to peas, runner beans, courgettes, tomatoes and lettuce in the summer to name but a few of the veggies grown by the volunteers.

This will mean we can continue growing winter vegetables and hopefully get on top of a few other jobs, e.g. turning the compost, cutting down the wildflower meadow, and tidying the borders. More sessions will be coming in the Spring & Summer of 2026.

This will be the last evening session of the year as the nights are drawing in now and the evenings are getting a bit too cool for gardening.
We will however be organising about 6 daytime sessions throughout the winter but on a Saturday as we did earlier in the year.
