He/Him. Creative Director @MoonRuneGames.
Red Mage of game dev.
Previously at FuturLab and TtGames. Now developing Curse of Cards as a solo dev. Have a cracking day!
Curse of Cards hasn't had much of a visual change this week, but I've been working on getting the Steam page and game scenario/story sorted!

I hope you're all having a lovely weekend.

This week on Curse of Cards, I've been looking into cementing the story.

Plus! - I've finally implemented a load of sound effects from Ben W, so things are feeling a lot more grounded in card matches!

On Curse of Cards, I've had a rethink about story.

... Which might mean redoing the Environment Art (😭) to focus more on typically British locations such as fens, highlands and pebble beaches (😃).

I can't believe I'm lucky enough to work with such talented Illustrators as Jacob McFadden on Curse of Cards!

The Mouse Familiar is a small but mighty attachment.

This week on Curse of Cards, I’ve mostly been doing environment art.

The gist of the game:
“What if the 2D map in Slay the Spire or Inscryption was a 3D space you could walk around and explore between matches?”

Some believe that Megalithic standing stones of ancient Britain and Gaul represent points where the veil between worlds is thinnest...

In Curse of Cards, these act as your waystones in the library.

New Curse of Cards illustration incoming!

A bit different to the more mystical folklore creatures we've had - Fionn Jordan has arted us a one of my favourite British birds of prey, the Kestrel.

I’m making environment art for Curse of Cards.
It’s quite meditative - both to create and to watch.

A pocket of Ma,
emptiness between the claps,
space for thought to breathe.

… it’s snowing on Mt Fuji.

I'm very fortunate to have another talented artist - Onyrix - create an illustration for Curse of Cards.

This time it's the Prince of Theives himself, Robin Hood!

I've had a fun week on Curse of Cards making environment art.

Setting myself up with foliage and modular pieces to munge different room variations for this cosmic library.

Plus, Ben's made more music!

Behold!
Curse of Cards has a minimap now.

It's inspired by Metroid Prime's lovely little isometric display (with an added bit of perspective so you don't randomly go cross-eyed while staring at it).

OK, I need to stop.

Curse of Cards *probably* doesn't need this much interactive water.

Making interactive shaders in Curse of Cards is my happy place.
I want to eat the water.

OK, here's my first bash at target-based movement in Curse of Cards where the player blueprint evaluates nodes in-range.

This way we can have free camera movement while still retaining the dungeon crawler grid-based movement.

I'm trying free movement instead of grid-based for Curse of Cards.
Whaddya reckon?

Pros: Better interaction with water and foliage; less disorientating; rooms can be any shape.

Cons: You lose the vibe.

Time and space are inextricably linked in Curse of Cards' Amber Archives...
Here's some exploration and card match gameplay.

Also, also, have some early music from Ben Wolland, the game's composer!

We have some wonderful collaborators on Curse of Cards!
Illustrator Jacob McFadden has expertly created the Cat Familiar - this card attaches to a Creature and bestows an ability.
