i got way too into this

Discord message from Síoda: yeah the whole digital media art scene is kinda surreal to me, as someone who's starting to find a footing there and meet people. i'm kind of astonished at the... lack of self-expression? like there is somehow a very rigid expectation for aesthetics and vision that has been laid out. art has to have all of its meaning obscured behind two or three different layers of context, and it's only profound if you're in the know. which in turn means there's sheafs upon sheafs of rigorously written papers explaining the art and what it means... somewhere in that process the person gets lost and the idea takes centre stage
