Scotland’s then FM N Sturgeon withdrew from that Edinburgh conference when Bannon was platformed citing she did not want to be part of any process that risked legitimising far right or racist views. Despite this or because of it perhaps,he was given an ‘free speech’ platform by several journalists

She’s quoting ‘300 of the most vulnerable women are at risk’- any idea where that figure comes from?
SPS latest figures ( March 25) states 18 transgender prisoners in the prison estate without identifying their location, but presumably she has accessed that information?

Another excellent column

Also worth bearing in mind ( as another court case re transgender prisoners goes live)

The new head should start with reviewing current and remaining commissioners with regard to ‘outside interests and reputational issues’ if they are hoping to regain any trust.

Remember at COP26 when reportedly the UK Gov were desperate to stop N Sturgeon meeting Biden ? I had a lot more hope for the world then + Starmer needed his arm twisted to attend this years summit

Oh look- they’ve wheeled out Michael Foran ( who was quoted in the SC judgement and produced work for Policy Exchange against the Scottish GRA, is an advisor for Sex Matters+’professional patron of LGBAlliance’) etc. The 🧵endorsed by Cherry

Neil, have a look at the list of contributors to the public consultation on her bill, and the list of organisations contributing to the SSI of adding sex to the Hate Crime Act -all published on ScotGov documents/Annex - concerned too at the many ‘anonymous organisations’ listed.
October 28, 2025 at 8:56 AM
Well, I’m not shocked. Similar groups have responded to the now closed public consultation on adding ‘sex to the Hate Crime Act(10 ‘Organisations’ and 84 ‘Faith or Belief Groups’)Annex A.The misogyny bill was dropped after the SC decision, unfortunately IMO.The usual suspects are on a crusade again
October 28, 2025 at 8:25 AM
Incidentally it is worth looking at the list of individuals and organisations ( including anonymous organisations!) who have responded to the consultation for this bill- some well recognised names there. You can read their submissions too in the Scotgov document - annex of submissions 👇

Love this

What do you make of this ? As seen on ‘X’ but not on this platform

They are also using it to specifically attack the SNP and said so as recorded in print ironically enough by Andrew Learmonth at the Scottish Labour Conference 2025 when Labour withdrew their support for gender reform. Dalgety attacks N Sturgeon endlessly and doesn’t see her own misogyny

The usual suspects are misrepresenting and providing clickbait misleading headlines from Nicola Sturgeon’s interview last night- here’s what she actually said - from the journalist who did the interview

A much more pleasant and thoughtful review of Len Pennie’s new poetry collection from a reviewer I very much respect.

Btw the ‘Beefy Boys’ cafe is pleased and has thanked her 😏 on X
I’m thinking though that Nicola could have a little fun ( if she didn’t have better things to do with her time)

Anyone needing a respite from world news- I can highly recommend the brilliant new novel ‘Love and other Poisons’ from @lesleymcdowell.bsky.social - very entertaining and part of Glasgow’s history- wee bit raunchy too and immaculately researched

Please go and see ‘Small Acts of Love’ at the newly reopened Citizens Theatre. Incredibly powerful and poignant play which deserved its standing ovation. Written by Frances Poet with Music and Lyrics by Ricky Ross. ( Bring hankies)
