Enjoyed the ingenious reworking of Cinderella at the @lyceumedinburgh into a celebration of parrots and practical footwear, rather than pumpkins and posh frocks.

Big shoutout to the queen who sent me this Paul & Paulette promotional.
It's on point, the lemon and rosemary smells fab, film critics can use it to scrub down their brains after seeing Thursday Murder Club, and it won't end up as landfill

Love doing this!

Join @colinmurray1.bsky.social and me today where our @bbc5live.bsky.social film is.....Moneyball

[points to board] Moneyball: is it a baseball film, or is it maths? And what don't we say?

[Raises hand]: Baseball is just rounders in pyjamas

Nettflix has released Wallace and Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl to the USA, and if they can cope with the localisms of Great British Bakeoff, they can probably navigate 'Yorkshire Border - No Parkin'
And gives me a chance to revisit the fact that Feathers' pet seal is called Ron

I'm talking to @GeoffNorcott on @TimesRadio about Meghan's new cookery show, and honestly, the Duchess has got this spot on
I'd definitely hire a house to cook doughnuts, rather than have mine stink of hot fat for hours. Alas, not many edible flowers in January. Might use leftover mincemeat.

Enjoy your Hogmanay.
May the night be more joyful than a schnauzer who has been made to wear her Christmas present for the first time today

Interviewing Steven Moffat in August for @edbookfest, I lightly remarked beforehand that there were few dramas about Covid, and why was that? He was sufficiently intrigued to raise this on stage.
Amazing how a creative powerhouse can take a tiny detail into unexpected places

Here's a lovely thing: walked past the Holy Sepulchre just as this was about to start, and ended up discovering the barytone, a cross between a cello and a harp, played by two amazing musicians.
Events like this are regular here and you pay what you can.

Good to see James Fox and Sam West at the Merchant Ivory documentary, with James Ivory on good form at Q&A

Nice anecdote about Maggie Smith, who begged off contributing to the film, but when asked about working with Merchant Ivory, nutshelled it as 'curry and chaos'

A young Synnot watching the Kendalls in Shakespeare Wallah would be thrilled by this.

This award season's longest film is worth eyes, but I'm not sure other four-hour films should follow its lead with a 15 minute intermission; it lets the air out the story, and some of the audience didn't come back!
(I don't like Wicked's PART 1 solution much either)
