Last week @tdbiii.bsky.social and I hosted a workshop in Soeterbeeck about contemporary feminist biblical reception. It was also the eighth hottest day since Dutch records began. Feeling very grateful for friends and colleagues able to be brilliant in extreme conditions and for what’s coming next!

Looking forward to my second paper of #EABSBL, in the final slot of the conference. Sure, it might just be me and the chair but at least we both have ~thoughts about this film!

First presentation of #EABSBL for me is about to begin - looking forward to it!

I’m at the airport en route to #EABSBL, so it feels like the perfect time to send a copy of my book, Reimaging the Magdalene, on a journey too!

💛 like and 🔁 RT and I’ll draw a winner on the feast of Mary Mag (22/07, heathens)

Let’s see where it ends up…

Great news for fans of not buying books but still having access to them: Reimaging the Magdalene has been added to the @tandtclark.bsky.social Jesus Library, so if your library subscribes you can now access a digital version.

It was great to speak to @feministtheology.bsky.social last night about the book, and a real treat to have such rich conversation around it. @karenod.bsky.social has worked some magic creating that space - highly recommended. 💙

You're probably going to see lots of chat because he critiqued Vance but that is honestly not a leftist opinion. It’s just a good priest correcting bad theology. (He’s a registered Republican according to some reports.)

On a more serious note, I do think the name and choice of outfit make a statement, and I liked his words about his friend Pope Francis and the focus on peace throughout his opening address.

Did I interrupt the seminar I was chairing and inadvertently give away that I was on chimney watch? Yes I did. (Sorry @benquash.bsky.social it was a great paper!)

Author copies of Reimaging the Magdalene have arrived! Tell your librarian it’s available now from @tandtclark.bsky.social @bloomsburyacad.bsky.social, but watch this space for a giveaway.

A privilege to join the BBC Breakfast team in the studio to talk briefly about Pope Francis this morning.

Hoping to write up some thoughts about the art of his papacy soon if I can find a home for it!

A wonderful (and long overdue) visit to @mcrjewishmuseum.bsky.social this evening, hosted by the fantastic Sherry Ashworth to listen to Tereza Ward from @thejohnrylands.bsky.social talking about her research.

If you’re in Manchester this time next week, we’ll be having a little launch event from 6pm at KRObar with my @uomreligion.bsky.social colleagues, and it would be great to wet the Magdalene’s head with you, so to speak.

Thanks to the good folks at @bloomsburyacad.bsky.social @bloomsburyrs.bsky.social and @tandtclark.bsky.social for getting it ready for the big wide world, and my long-suffering family and friends for putting up with my nonsense.

I’m very happy to share that my book ‘Reimaging the Magdalene: Feminism, Art, and the Counter-Reformation’ is now available to buy at all good booksellers (and the dodgy ones too).

Lovely to be back with friends at Nazarene Theological College today to talk about Reimaging the Magdalene ahead of publication day tomorrow.

In my very specific niche: On my way to teach at @stpaulscathedral.bsky.social, looking at Mary Magdalene in the art of Easter. Everyone else on my train is ready for Wembley, so we're not even out of the Lime Street tunnels yet and we're on a third run-through of Poor Scouser Tommy.
