SNIPPET: I thrust the door open and Corey starts running, nearly falling down the metal RV stairs as he laughs, cruel and without abandon. I chase after him, cussing him out as he runs across the lawn with his phone propped over his head. His bare feet slam against the grass like they were made for it while I yelp and hop in place more than once after stepping on a patch of pebbles or poorly fallen twig. I can see his grinning face in the phone screen held over his head, my disastrous frame chaotically pursuing him. I can also see that he’s live on Instagram. I whip out the bottle once I get close and squirt my remaining black hair dye onto his back. Corey yelps in response, “Not the shirt, it’s–!” “Yeah, vintage, I fucking know!” Corey howls again and doesn’t lose momentum as he runs directly for Lake Norman, tossing his phone over his shoulder without a single care for its safety as he leaps into the water from the edge of the dock.
