To be very clear here, I'm not shitting on people who show an interest in the industry. Indeed, I love seeing that kind of interest myself and encourage everyone to try making games themselves. My issue rather stems with some gamers using said uninformed talking points to attack devs.

Excellent question. I think one starting point could be:
Indie game dev is a very transparent process compared to other industries. As a result, some gamers develop an overconfidence in their knowledge of the industry, which in turn leads to uninformed takes (Gamers here, meaning consumers).

Honestly, as an Indie Dev myself, this is a really based take. AA and AAA are not the inherent evils a lot of gamers seem to make them out to be. There may be problematic elements, sure, but they do still have their place in the ecosystem.
