Getting older, probably not wiser. Rediscovered the joy of learning. Philosophy, Law, Politics. Green Party, Limitarianism, anti-neoliberalism.
I wish I knew more of economics and political economy to understand it. From reading "The Invisible Doctrine" (Monbiot, Hutchison), I'd guess the politicians are in the grip of an ideology making their policy choices seem unavoidable.

s.480 in the Guidance on Article 10 of the ECHR - Freedom of Expression (rm.coe.int/guide-on-art...) arguably says that Article 10(2) obligates the state to protect Judges from unfounded attacks - misleadingly undermining the authority of the judiciary should be an offence.

Funny thing about getting older is how I can't remember last week, but 50 years ago seems like yesterday.

The judgement applied only to the interpretation of "woman" in the Equality Act, not its meaning in other statutes and certainly not as a guide to its meaning in policy.

The EHCR (and journalists) should read the judgement, not leap to unwarranted conclusions.

The ego of the man.

Hyperbolic maybe, but Reform really does look more and more like a cult. No substance beyond the "charisma" of the beloved leader.

2 of my sons, both with decent jobs, still live with us. They can't afford to buy and because of where we live, are priced out of the rental market. We have to do better for the young.

Absolutely. People before profit every single time.

Hope the cataract op was successful - it made a huge difference in quality of life for my mother-in-law.

Not to mention that the Samaritan would have been considered an "immigrant" in Judea at that time. Badenoch clumsily dog-whistling to Christian Nationalists maybe?

Lunacy. Why is ideology, rather than obvious public interest, driving these decisions? Green government needed urgently.

Persisting with neo-liberal economics has caused so much damage. This in particular struck a chord:

"An honest accounting of our economy must acknowledge that it has become extractive rather than productive, and rewards asset owners over workers, all while driving up the cost of living further."
