In the South, when you hear the thigh slaps it's time to either GTFO or let someone else GTFO. When they are accompanied by a 'whelp' it means they're serious.

Funny thing is, none of us were ever really explicitly taught that. We just sort of automatically knew.

Like you have to get a license to slay, just like with firearms or driving a car.

I wouldn't mind that to a degree, because they could show how it's much more difficult nowadays with social media and the 24/7 news cycle being a thing.

Maybe they could have new rules specifically forbidding it & they have a teen slayer trying to get around the rules.

At the same time, it is a little frustrating seeing people talk like her music has never held merit or that there's zero reason for anyone to like any of her less well received music.

I wouldn't say that it was sudden. I knew a few people who really didn't like her but kept their mouths shut because people would almost literally apparate out of nowhere to unilaterally defend her, regardless of topic. I think I saw a few joke memes and comics about this phenomenon back then.

I don't know how the show will go, but I really hope that at least some of the Slayers teamed up to form a union. Partially for the obvious humor that could come from it, but also because they have one of the most dangerous jobs on earth. And sometimes not on earth.

Considering how nasty weddings and wedding planning can get, it's kind of surprising that the body count isn't higher at these things.

I think the premise still applies for mysteries. Probably especially for mysteries.

Never apologize for the tiny skeleton. Just remember - in the immortal words of Robert Englund from New Nightmare: "Just because it's a love story doesn't mean it can't have a decapitation or two."

So the tiny skeleton is justified.

Shoot, @laurelhightower.bsky.social is both an author AND a busy paralegal, among the other billion things she's also doing at the same time. And then she goes home and does family things on top of all that.

Truth. I had to go back and watch the TV ending and read fanfic to kind of soften the ending of the film.

They're still kind of there but far more understated. Can't remember which anime magazine i read that in offhand.

Fun fact: when they made the movie they did away with the 'antenna' strands of hair to show that the film had a more somber mood. They said that the antenna was a sign of happiness and that form of Hitomi wasn't a happy as the one in the TV series.

They found out partway through filming, as the studio demanded that they as scenes tying it to the first fun. It's a shame it's tied to the first film as otherwise it might have gotten more love as a so bad it's good film.

I need someone to go to a spooky movie location and review this book on video!
