It was set too low and now is set too high. How many families are on well under 35k with rent/mortgage, 4 lots of washing, mouths to feed etc? The way the BBC explained it, a couple could each be on 34k and still get it, so household income of 68k? Not sure this can be correct.

Agree,and now reading her wonderful The Poisonwood Bible. The richness of her prose is the modern day equivalent of Dickens.
