The writer admitted she didn’t listen to the whole podcast because she’s not a paid subscriber, so she lost me there.

I think Molly Ivins called Texas the National Lab for Bad Government. Some things never change, unfortunately.

I just finished Money for Nothing over the weekend and learned so much! Plus it was fun to read. I’m
passing it on to my son, who is majoring in econ. And yes, it is frustrating that a dunderhead like TCW is sucking up the media’s attention when so many great writers don’t get the same attention.

As a pedestrian in this city, I think no right on red is a good law.

Thanks for this! I’d never heard of Magnolian. This is perfect Sunday morning music.

My favorite part is down thread where they said they used ChapGPT because they’re “not a good communicator.”Then why the heck are they writing a book? 🙃

I think so too. My three kids, ages 20-24, use it only for marketplace.

Also, you haven’t lived until you see the display of swag LBJ handed out as gifts. Giant electric razors were one of his faves. Definitely a man’s world back then.

It’s a really pretty part of Texas.

The rancher is right by the other house. It was like stepping back in time.

I was just about to suggest visiting the Texas White House and the school where LBJ taught. He contained multitudes. Maybe 12 years ago when out kids were young we rented the rancher the Johnson’s stayed in while the Texas White House was being built.

This was also a multi-payer system, I should add.

He was so weird about it, like he was hell-bent on believing this couldn’t exist.

When I lived in NL 15 years ago, I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease. A US acquaintance didn’t believe me when I told him about my experience. An *entire year’s* treatment (x-rays, blood draws and labs every 4 weeks, two Rxs taken weekly, and monthly rheumatologist appointments) cost $600.

He’s a liar. If he or any other Republican had any cases of fraud they’d be blasting them all over the media. He knows he’s about to immiserate many of his own constituents. He just doesn’t care.

Also, this pasta dish is the perfect side and works with orzo, of course, but lots of other shapes. barefootcontessa.com/recipes/orzo...

Ditalini! Tiny tubes catch sauce, are cute but not twee like alphabet pasta, and are not as small as orzo, but still have a similar vibe.

Yep. My grandma’s Joy of Cooking had recipes for squirrel.

Stop using this clash framing. People were protesting peacefully and the cops showed up and became violent. There were not two armies on a battlefield squaring off, so stop framing it this way.

Having mumps at age 3 is my earliest memory and it hurt SO much. So yes, why make kids go through the pain of these diseases let alone risk their lives?

What?! I grew up near Gulfport and this is mind-blowing and great!
