In case you needed a visual aid to demand that this *COLONIAL* bloodsport is banned; here's a pack of hounds and cosplayers on horseback on their way to participate in the barbaric bloodsport that is fox hunting. The CO2 ppm is high for being in a playground beside a river. The playground is beside a road that enters a village. Between HGVs and homes burning solid fuels to stay warm, the CO2 is higher than the ~420ppm you would expect as a baseline level. This would be a great indoor reading. #FridayAirday

This is a screenshot for #FridayAirday from my @airspothealth.bsky.social reading so far. The window has been open through the night & all morning. Co2 levels started rising once neighbours started burning solid fuel. The air quality in the West of Ireland massively deteriorates in cold temps.

Because I have FOMO being unable to add live readings of the CO2 concentrations in my environment today for @cleanairie.bsky.social #FridayAirday ; here's one of the best readings I've ever recorded with an @airspothealth.bsky.social CO2 monitor I borrowed from a friend for my travels in October.

It should be a national scandal that the official government excuse for not recognising COVID-19/ Long Covid as an occupational illness is because community transmission is now so prevalent. This is an admission of failure and abandonment of public health. The repercussions will be felt for decades.

Observing this horrific situation from Ireland, I'm struck by how little serious attention is going into investigating WHY there is a dramatic rise in working age people suddenly applying for disability benefits. This article mentions NHS focusing on preventive health in the form of exercise.

Mayo County Council seem hell bent on destroying the beautiful nature and heritage surrounding Cong village because HGV drivers can't use their sat nav properly.

Mayo County Council cutters were out in full force on Friday doing more damage to yet another totally harmless, beautiful hedgerow on my road 😔.

Frustratingly, all of this has arisen to accommodate articulated trucks carrying logs from sitka spruce plantations to more easily get to a nearby sawmill. All while a perfectly good road already exists that would only add ~20 minutes to the journey. These trucks shouldn't be going via Cong at all.

And any rainforests that do exist, county councils seem hell-bent on building roads through! The forest in the photo makes up the vast majority of the study area for this road proposal. congreliefroad.com/public-consu...

From what I've seen around Galway, Leylandi trees brought down the majority of wires that went down. Other old trees too, but mostly Leylandis. Would love to see a national program to get rid of them. Many were planted decades ago for houses to get planning permission. Now they're a major burden.

The force of #stormeowyn was so strong it managed to push the shipping container type structure from where the blue barrel is standing. Also impressed that the blue barrel maintained its position.

Years of underinvestment in our electricity infrastructure & the entire west coast is very badly impacted by power outages due to snow, not even wind. Many locations don't have an estimated fix time, others have gone from 5am this morning to 5pm tomorrow. Please remember this when voting next week.
