#HouseofM was a particularly rough time for #PeterParker #SpiderMan. #UncleBen and #GwenStacy were alive and he had a son. Then it was all taken away. In a moment of anger he lashes out at #PietroMaximoff #Quicksilver causing a reaction he regrets.

I've always loved the ending to the #Knightfall storyline. #Batman realises that #JeanPaulValley not only needs to be stopped but needs help too. Using cunning, he defeats his failed replacement and encourages him to find a new future.

"What I like about the costume is that anybody reading #Spider-Man in any part of the world can imagine that they themselves are under the costume. And that’s a good thing." - #StanLee. To a young boy with an addict for a mother, his hero looks a lot like him under the mask. And that's a good thing.

#HankPym leaving the #Avengers feels pitch-perfect. He owns his mental health struggles without excusing his actions, swears off heroics, apologizes to #JanetVanDyne, and admits their marriage was built on the wrong reasons. I wish this had stuck.

I don’t usually post comedy, because most comic book humour doesn't make me laugh. But this winter-themed #SpiderMan comic really earns it. On a snow day, Spidey’s just trying to get to #AuntMay when he runs into #Kelvin - and the result is genuinely very funny.

One of the most tragic deaths in the #Marvel Universe is the #Swordsman. An ex-criminal trying to redeem himself as an #Avenger, he’s heartbroken when #Mantis leaves him for the #Vision. Lacking powers, he spends months feeling useless - when he dies saving her, he still believes he dies a failure.

In the last decade there's been some great writing used to show that #Namor the #Sub-Mariner has been struggling with PTSD from the the things he went though in WW2, which leads to his anger issues. If you'd seen the result of those camps, you might struggle too. "It will never be "All Right."

After saving the day, #Superman and #Batman each help save #Christmas for a family in their own way, but nothing makes Christmas easy for #BruceWayne. This is my kind of Batman #Xmas comic - heartwarming but also with a touch of melancholy at the end.

#UlyssesHazard — the #Gravedigger — is one of the coolest heroes in comics. He beat childhood polio, endured brutal training, mastered martial arts, pushed past racism in the military, became an elite commando, and sent hundreds of #Nazi scumbags to early graves. Badass.
