This was quite painful to read but I agree that UAF is not the bug, it can be the result of a bug in an unmanaged language, and said bug can exist in both languages. Not having to understand memory lifetimes makes understanding memory lifetimes significantly harder 🙃

I've never had an issue with Linux Mint and laptop hardware (yet). Use Linux live usb to create a bootable OS and try it out first.
