I am exquisite. I am tinged
With color from core to fringe
Exfoliatedly conscious of my fragrance and tart
I was a young breeze
Whistling naked through the trees
but now the ides explain, I’m just a colorful old fart
How much gold?

Can’t believe this is your suggestion - speak in a less intelligent way.

No thanks.

So I never said it doesn’t matter what people believe. I said it doesn’t matter whether God is real or not. That belief in God is a personal reality that serves a purpose. That that purpose can be harmful or helpful is just how life is. Almost anything can be used for good and bad.

You think I’m arguing that God is real but I’m not. I’m actually arguing that it doesn’t matter either way. People and what they need when they need it is what matters.

And you fight the fight that’s important for you. Some people wrestle with God, some people don’t. The person who believes in God today, is an atheist 10 years from now, and something else later on. Because that’s what they needed for each of those points in their life.

It doesn’t matter if it’s indoctrinated or put another way almost everything is indoctrinated. Everyone grows up connected to their social environment and is a product of that. But we still have to make a way for ourselves, find happiness, have kids, love, live and die. So you do the best you can.

It’s like what happens when people sing lyrics to a song that aren’t the actually lyrics. The lyrics that they sing usually has meaning for them but maybe no one else. They still love the song and share that love with others, but the song they sing is more about them than the real song.

You don’t need a God for meaning, but other people do. That seems to be the reality.

You get my point but miss it at the same time. My premise is that religion is not a statement about the real world but a statement about the person espousing the religion. If that premise is true then it doesn’t matter if it is real or not.

Some of the choices that define us don’t have a rational basis. Why do I love my wife? Why does making music heal me? Why do I choose a lower paying profession than a higher paying one? I’ve come to believe that the choice of religion is more about what the person needs rather than what is true.

Why is the sewer pipe so large in diameter? Is it because of gas buildup? Can’t believe flow volume of sewage ever requires that large a diameter.

Wonder if they have heard the story of Daniel and his friends. Religions are built and bred for such moments.
