People also mix up realism with immersion, which is a bit of a pet peeve of mine. But I guess some folks can't immerse themselves to something that doesn't "feel realistic" (like yellow paint).

The problem here is that what we deem realistic in the VG space has changed quite a lot over the years.

The video game online discourse also puts way too much emphasis on immersion, but a game being immersive doesn't necessarily mean it's engaging. Clarity of player's objectives (e.g. places to climb) is pretty high on the list of things that drive engaging gameplay, often at the cost of immersion.

AW2 started turning profit at the end of last year. Publishing it on Steam isn't up to Remedy since those rights are held by Epic. Boycotting Remedy doesn't net anything and without the Epic's funding the game wouldn't exist. investors.remedygames.com/releases-and...
