Music, mainly.
One of these two - can’t remember which came first. North Walsham Woolworth’s, probably the 79p ex-chart rack, late 1981.

Alison Moyet at Webster Hall last night. Lively crowd and a great set. Highlights: an acoustic It Won’t Be Long, Whispering Your Name, and a barnstorming Situation.

A Broken Frame and Construction Time Again got more plaudits for the photography, but this is perfectly evocative of the contents within - highly polished, mildly industrial, a little sinister

First gig of the year - Open Head album release show at TV Eye. If your preferred music venue doesn’t have a massive oil painting of a nude Iggy Pop in thigh-high boots I suggest you have a word with the proprietor.

Sunday morning TG. Bought the CD of this at one of the Chicago shows on the 2009 tour, (missed out on a signed Gristleizer for lack of cash though). Nice to see it get this vinyl reissue. #NowPlaying

Ending the year in gigs the way it began - Ride live, this time at Warsaw in Greenpoint. Band great, audience a little subdued for some reason.

Great set from Midwife last night, opening for Blood Incantation at a packed Elsewhere

First @thecure.com 7-inch single since 2008 - a couple of Robert Smith remixes of A Fragile Thing. The A-side doesn’t depart much from the album mix but the B-side changes things up, paring back the instrumentation, pushing the keys forward and adding a softer, shuffling drum track.

Sunn O))) last night at Lincoln Center, not a venue I’d have expected to see them play at. No concession to volume, as what remains of my right ear this morning will attest.

Once again considering weighting my Top 20 Albums Of The Year rankings with a negative modifier based on how long it takes me to work out which side to play based on the label design. No penalty to @warringtonruncorn.com with very strong work indeed here.

I really hope this is what it seems to be, which is the rebirth of Saint Vitus Bar, though presumably in a new location. I loved that venue and there’s been a void without it. (Pasted screenshot due to Instagram link weirdness.)

2023 reissue of Front 242’s 1991 major label effort Tyranny For You (in the US - it was on PIAS in Europe). Hadn’t heard this since the mid 90s. I was underwhelmed other than the first single at the time but it bears up well, if decidedly in the shadows of Front By Front and Official Version…
