Living the dream in Montrose.
Mostly Houston stuff, bike commuting, energy, bad takes.
Kudos to Uptown for installing bollards.

I’m still hoping news sites will offer a pay per article access model. For sites like WSJ I only want to read a couple articles a month, happy to pay $1 an article. For KHOU and sites like that, I’d be happy to pay 25 cents to see no ads.

For these sites, the screenreader button in safari is a godsend. Too bad chrome buries it.

Unfortunately, not true. Latest peer reviewed study says less safe than average driver.

"No, Waymo is not safer than the average human driver."

A good title for this topic is “Should Katy evacuate?” Because they’ve been pumping a significant amount of water from aquifers for decades despite being aware of the subsidence issues.

The app is not loading weather info for me either today. If you reinstall the app it will just be blank.

Are you saying Chuck should retain Law Dog?

And you didn’t even mention the private jet boom. We’re all paying for the infrastructure the super wealthy use to travel.

The ultra-wealthy who fly private are costing average flyers who won't ever use a private plane a lot of money
Private jet travel has surged in the US over the last few years and accounts for one in every six flights.

It’s time to retire. Both candidates in the runoff are well known. One of them will be a congressperson before the midterms.

Did you check with Al?

bsky.app/profile/jenr...
Houston's 18th congressional district:
-last 2 representatives died in office
-vacant since March
-TX GOP redrew the map
-finally got to vote this week
-two Democrat millennials are going to a runoff
-Al Green (78) now filing to run against the runoff winner in the March primary
November 7, 2025 at 4:13 AM
The governor can delay special elections for months. Sylvester Turner died in March. He probably won’t be replaced until early 2026. Would be a shame for dems to lose a vote again for a year.
November 7, 2025 at 4:08 AM
Doesn’t matter if you win if you die in office.

If a TX city sets up noise monitors the state might move in a similar vein to speed cameras to limit its use. Question for Tory if it would be better for the city to be proactive with the state legislature on this issue. Does it fall under CoH QoL or TX motor vehicle jurisdiction?
November 6, 2025 at 9:49 PM
The article doesn’t address the state level issues you brought up.

Sorry, couldn’t resist a gag post.

Whitmire hasn’t issued a statement.
😉

Whitmire mentioned this in his congratulatory message.
