If you don't think you remember British star Jean Simmons, you've probably seen some of her award-winning performances. The actress, born in Islington in 1929, graced our screens for five decades and married Stewart Granger.

We saw the RSC's Wendy and Peter Pan at the Barbican. It was a magical and fun production which made us all remember our happy place.

saw Othello at the Theatre Royal, Haymarket. There were crowning performances from Toby Jones and David Harewood, who really brought the tragedy to life, unlocking the full emotional impact. Top-notch theatre.

I saw the James Oliver Band at the Waiting Room in Stoke Newington. A fantastic blues band with bassist Norman Watt-Roy made for a fun and exciting evening. Love live music.

I saw Midnight at Sadlers Wells East, a new musical written and performed by Todrick Hall. A tale of forbidden love and slavery, it was a 'workshop' production with a sparse set, but fully formed score, choreography and bombshell performances. Expect to see it at the West End

#cocktail for Saturday is a Mulata Daiquiri. Rich and sweet and sour, with spiced rum (Smuggled From Cornwall), fresh lime juice, coffee liqueur (Tia Maria) and caramel sugar syrup, with a tiny slice of lime. The coffee adds warmness, the caramel sweetness. Delicious. Pip pip!

There was a time when drinkers would have sent back a pint looking like this. Now some of us look forward to a delicious draught hazy IPA (at the Dog and Fox in Wimbledon village)

Round of applause to First Bus UK for offering free travel to the Armed Forced community on Sunday 9th and Tuesday 11th November to commemorate Remembrance Day and Armistice Day. Are other travel companies offering similar?

The job search continues.
I had to turn down the offer of a job as an archer.
It had too many drawbacks.

It's FA Cup action. AFC Wimbledon are taking on Gateshead in the first round. it's a long journey for the north-east club's fans, but hopefully they'll go home without a result.

#cocktail to kick-start the weekend is a Blackberry Bramble. It's simply gin, lemon juice and blackberry juice, over ice and garnished with a blackcurrant and fresh mint, for a fresh, fruity and very English countryside tasting beverage. Pip pip!
