I’m cycling through about 8 books atm but 2 I’ve finished this month:

Sam McPheeters - Loom of Ruin
If Harry Crews wrote Repo Man. Truly absurd.

Anna Kavan - Seep Has His House
Written in “Night Time Language”. Hallucinatory meditations on grief & isolation. Rivals Lynch or Tarkovsky in its effect

New music I have enjoyed so far this month:

Nate Wooley - Henry House (Ideological Organ)
Every bit as good as the Lovely Music catalog circa 1981. First perfect record of 2025

The Weather Station - Humanhood (Fat Possum)
Joni’s Hejira if she were backed by Robert Wyatt, the Blue Nile & TVOTR

A few small good things continued…

Mood Machine by @lizpelly.bsky.social is very much worth the hype. The mission creep of DSP cultural flattening is pulled apart piece by piece.

It feels extra timely as every tech CEO kneels to kiss the ring this week.

Some brief glimmers of light in a particularly dark January (part one)

Mark Leckey - Three Songs of the Liver at Gladstone.
Totally ecstatic installation. Spiritual, mysterious, humorous. Everything I love about his work. The installation of benches from UK bus stops triggered extreme nostalgia.
